This small profile makes me seem like a thriving college student with a bright future. However, with my undergraduate graduation a seemingly short four semesters away and my post-college future still very fuzzy, I'm starting to panic. Unconventional as it may be, I plan to use this blog to get me to back on track and proudly walking across our arena's stage to receive my diploma in May of 2014.
A short look at the reality that has suddenly hit me square in the nose:
- 1. My GPA is not great. 3.000 on the dot. Barely a B average, one of my higher concerns given my interest in Grad school.
- 2. My resume is pretty blank.The list ends after part-time job, service learning course, and softball coach. Boring, generic, etc.
- 3. I don't know what I want to do. Law, business, teaching; the opportunities are numerous and overwhelming.
So while I sat here on my laptop in my pajamas mourning the prestigious grad programs it is unlikely I'll ever get into, I started to think, why not? Why can't I get into the UGA School of Law? Why can't I go to UM and get my MBA? And my answers to those questions were the 3 bullet points above. The great thing about GPAs and resumes is that it's all up to you! You ultimately decide what grades you're going to receive in your courses and you definitely decide which causes you're going to dedicate your time to for a resume.
As I generally work better when I'm held accountable to my word, I want to make a promise to anyone who happens to stumble by accident across this blog: I will use this platform to document all the steps I'm taking to get myself ready for graduation, from cover letters to club meetings, you'll hear about it all here. By the end of my deadline, whether I've succeeded or failed, you can all shove me out into the real world and watch what happens like an episode of The Real Housewives.
